Emma hummed for a moment as she thought before grabbing one of her pillows. "This is the island, okay?" she asked, setting it in her lap and sketching out with her fingers the basic layout of the area.
"And normally, when I'm not even trying, I can hear this much at any given time," she continued, drawing a circle around what would be a dorm-sized area. "One person, if I know them, I can find anywhere on the island, that's easy. Your minds are like little stars in my mind, and you're all different. "But if I'm trying to keep track of groups, or individuals, if I'm trying, I can cover this much; the school, the dorms, and part-way towards town, or into the woods."
"But the me in the Other-Fandom, the Vampire World, she could do more at once, which means I can too. So I've been practicing," Emma said. "I can do more, now. I did more. I could hear almost everyone, perfectly, for a moment, and it was like... a symphony. But too many of them were hallucinating, and I'd been working for hours, so..." She tipped the pillow over. "Boom."
