Fangtasia was just starting to attract its evening crowd by the time they arrived. There was a line of people dressed in everything from trailing black gowns to...well, not very many clothes at all outside the distinctly un-flashy-looking red bar. It was part of a strip mall, after all, and if not for the red awning and velvet ropes -- plus the neon script Fangtasia sign in the window -- it could have been any number of boring, small stores.
And of course, the tall, svelte blonde in the black floor-length gown didn't help. She was definitely a vampire, and definitely taking IDs as people walked in. And she was making 'disdain' an art form.

Emma Frost |
Emma had to admit, Bobby's version of transportation was kinda neat. They'd set down far enough away that no one would notice their odd arrival, and Emma was all saunter and confidence as she strode up to the door. The ID in her back pocket was very good -- the best money could buy -- and put her at a few weeks past 21. "Ready to play, darling?" |
Bobby Drake |
"With you, Emma?" Bobby smirked, "always." It maybe wasn't the most appropriate time for humor, which of course meant that was exactly what Bobby was going to come up with. |
| Emma just laughed and winked as they headed to the door. <<My fake says my name is Cordelia, and my age is just past 21,>> she said silently. <<Are we using your real name or a pseudonym?>> Assuming they got past the front door at all, with Bobby's adorkable baby-face. |
|
DRAKE ROBERTS |
Drake. He was no telepath himself, but he knew how to focus his thoughts properly to be heard by one. Drake Roberts is the name on mine. Hank's idea. |
Emma |
<<Well that will be easy for me to remember,>> she answered, as they got in the line. <<Better put an arm around me, or no one's going to believe that we're here together.>> |
Bobby |
Bobby's eyes got a little deer-in-headlights look about them at that instruction, but still, he complied, letting an easy smirk settle on his face as well. |
Emma |
Emma just shot him a smirk of her own. "This will be exciting, won't it?" she asked out-loud. "I've patronized a number of establishments, but this is the first time I've been to a bar in a strip mall." Yes, Emma, because that's clearly what was unusual about this evening. |
Bobby |
Totally! "Well, no one can say we're not willing to try something new," Bobby cracked as the girl in front of them was let in, leaving the two of them at the front of the line. |
Pam |
Pam looked even less amused than usual when she spotted who was at the front of the line. She looked over Bobby and Emma slowly. "You have got to be kidding me." |
Emma |
"I don't tend to waste my time on pranking people I don't know," Emma replied sweetly, fishing her ID out of her back pocket and handing it over. "It doesn't have the payout to make it worth the effort." |
Bobby |
"There's really no fun in that," Bobby agreed, doing likewise. "And since what we're here for is to have fun..." he trailed off, letting the implication hang there. |
Pam |
Pam must have been in a good mood since she actually bothered to glance at Emma's ID. She didn't look impressed. "You're aware we don't allow anyone under twenty-one in here, correct?" |
Emma |
"No, actually, but according to my ID, that doesn't matter, now does it?" Emma pointed out. "It's a late birthday present to myself." True! Her birthday had been in December!...even if the birthdate on the card belonged to her brother Christian. Emma firmly believed the best lies had the truth mixed in. |
Bobby |
"And what Cordelia wants, Cordelia gets," Bobby said matter-of-factly with a little shrug, not even so much as stumbling over the alias. |
Pam |
Pam had about enough of this. Kids these days. No respect for things that could kill them. "Children, go home," Pam said, making sure to show a little fang when she spoke. "I don't have the time or the inclination to babysit." |
Emma |
"Good for you, that you've found such consuming employment in being a bouncer," Emma replied. She didn't have fangs to intimidate people, but she did start to pull power to her. The headblind couldn't see her art, but sometimes the sensation of psionic energy moving around unsettled people. She'd promised Sookie not to get caught. She didn't say anything about not-cheating. "Luckily for you, we don't need babysitters." Emma's smile was pure wickedness. "Cross my heart and hope to die." Pun intended. |
Bobby |
Well, fine. If Pam was going to show off then so would he. Icing up would be a bit too dramatic- and public, even if he'd never see these people again in his life- but he could use the same trick he had with Bill, letting the moisture in the air chill noticeably. "We're more than capable of taking care of ourselves." Oh yeah. He was totally badass. Totally. |
Pam |
There was a rare flicker of surprise in Pam's usually stony misdemeanor when she felt it get cold, and then she offered the rare smirk to Bobby and Emma. "Yes, yes I'm sure you are." She didn't sound like she meant it at all, but the fact is she said it. It was a compliment, sort of. Right. "I'm still not letting you in," she said. "And you're trying my patience." |
Bobby |
"Yeah," Bobby sighed. "I get that a lot." |
Emma |
"He does," Emma agreed sadly. "We try to pretend it builds character, but mostly he's just trying." "Which is why I got stuck with him." Emma gave Bobby a fond smile. "I'm probably the only person more impossible than him." She was going to need to scrub her brain after this. "Look, he'll be good, and I'll be... less-abrasive than I usually am. But if we're going to be stuck in Hicksville for another few days, I need to let off some energy before I take it out on some redneck, and that's too easy to be any fun." |
Pam |
Consider Pam's patience tried. "Forget it kids. Neither of you are worth the legal trouble," she said, fixing a glare on the two of them. "Come back after you hit puberty." |
Bobby |
This sort of thing was so much easier with the Worthington name backing one up. "You," he said, pointing a finger at Pam, "are completely no fun." |
Emma |
Emma's hand snapped out to thwack him against the back of the head. "Drake, you don't say that out loud to a lady. Even if it is true." "Learn how to imply it. With sarcasm." She turned her attention back to Pam, suddenly all business. "Look. Our IDs say we're legal, and I can promise there's not a cop in this world who can tell the difference. Legally, you couldn't get in trouble, even if we were lying. Theoretically, of course." |
Pam |
Pam didn't much like getting legal advice from a child. She growled slightly under her breath and let her fangs show fully, causing several people behind Bobby and Emma to step back out of fear. "You two need to learn to respect your elders," Pam said. "Leave. Now." |
Emma |
Emma didn't even flinch, and she didn’t appreciate Pam’s tone. And since there wasn't anyone else close enough to see, Emma was about her eyes go white. "And you ought to respect your betters -- " Which was right when Sookie's mental SOS slammed into her brain, and it was only from sheer willpower that Emma didn't fall over or throw-up right there. She broke off her sentence instead, tilting her head suddenly as she listened to something only she could hear. "Know what? I'm already bored. You have no joy in your life; you don't even know how to have fun debating." <<Drake, we need to go. NOW.>> |
Bobby |
Bobby recognized that look, and so he didn't even put up an argument when Emma's telepathic demand came through. "And you might wanna consider some dental work!" Bobby quipped as they left. "Those so don't even look real." As soon as they were out of sight he was iced up. "Where?" he asked Emma, an ice slide starting to form at his feet as he picked her up. |
Emma |
She wrapped her arms around him without protesting at the chill. She knew Bobby wouldn't drop her, but it she wanted his concentration on going fast, not worrying about her. <<Cemetery, now.>> Emma wasn't sure if Karla or Jono had heard Sookie, and it was faster to grab everyone at once, rather than just tell Bobby. <<Sookie's in trouble.>> <<While we've been out hunting the killer, he's been waiting for her to be alone. And from what I got, there's no sign of Bubba.>> |
