Emma was in a mood.

She'd skipped the undignified chaos of the newbie picnic in order to sulk get some quiet time in her room, and the raw noise this time of year left her in perpetual headache. She'd managed to make it through class today, although barely, and her temper was starting to fray again at whomever in the building had thoughts nattering away like some demented parakeet.

But the volume of the dorms, coupled with the residual crankiness she had left over from the rest of the week and situations not to be recognized, had sent her back to her room to scowl and pick over her closet, tossing last season's things in a pile to drop off at the Salvation Army or something. She had money now, dammit, she was going to spend it.

And despite promising herself that she wasn't going to do anything that sappy or petty, she was occasionally sending text messages over her phone.

bored now.

No answer.

am now trying long distance telepathy. do you have a compulsion to pet a duck yet?

She wasn't going to wait for an answer, really. Her ex...whatever...was just going to have to suffer her texting whims today.

tell me when your homework starts quacking.

be very very quiet. it's talking to you.

booooooooored.

The door was open, but Emma would be alternately bemused or pissy, depending on if that person had shut up yet. God.

[OOC: Open door, open post, fear the Fun Dip.]

"...you should change," Rose decided, unable not to answer in that manner. "I will too. Meet you downstairs in 15?"

Twice in two days, yep.

Why bother when I knew you'd get around to suggesting it eventually?" she teased. "Maybe a little twitchy. And sick of being good. Give me a prescription, Dr. Emma."

"Eh, you know the disease," Rose admitted, taking a seat and lounged back into it. "Summer being over too soon is the simplest one." She wrinkled her nose. "But I'm pretty sure drinking is never just wasting our time."

"Yeah, well, I'm not enough of a geek to wanna go to college early or whatever Jack's doing, the dumbass," she said, making a face as she got up to get the glasses. "Thank god."

She set the glasses down in front of Emma, watching the shrug. Funny how it looked like Alex and Effy were going to be the longest lasting weird ass couple or something.

"It's why it's a good thing they've got their dicks on the outside. Not enough patience for the other way round." Rose snorted. "Sorry, I'm totally girly and polite today."

Rose stared at the little ice cube tray and shook her head. "You're freakily well prepared. You have miniature ice cubes. I'm - speechless."

"To being freaking awesome," Rose agreed, holding up her glass to Emma's. "Makes sense. Wouldn't've thought of it." Mostly because Rose was of the inclination to ignore it until she passed out oops. "So the new kids arriving and being freaked out doesn't help with that, huh?"

"Hey, I pay attention to my body!" she protested, taking a swig of the vodka. "How else do I fight? I have a fantastic body. And I haven't had a ...ghost...thing for like two weeks."

"Or maybe it means I figured out how to keep them away without trying so hard," she pointed out. Then shook her head. "Okay, fine, that's a lie. And I'd totally appreciate the whole teaching how to keep my brain from leaking thing."

She shrugged. "And, I dunno, I think it's not so much allergic to them than they're pissed I'm still alive and they aren't." At least all of them but Mason.

Rose smirked over at Emma. "I think you should tell 'em that."
