Room 528, Saturday Night

Tomorrow was the move back to the cabins, so tonight Emma was packing. Music cranked up to eleven as she worked, swaying along with the beat as she tossed stuff into her duffel bag.

She still didn't have much, but her closet was a LOT fuller than it had been upon her arrival, and she was actually needing to chose between outfits.

A girl could get used to this.

Having not gone to watch the fireworks, Jean was investigating who her neighbors on the floor were. And there was an open door and everything there!

Emma looked up from the two tops in her hands, eyes flickering over the newcomer quickly. Oh, how quaint. It was a Gap reject.

"Yes?" she asked sweetly. "Can I help you?"

Jean's grin only faltered for a moment. "I'm Jean," She said, offering a hand. "I'm your neighbor."

"Frost, Emma Frost," she replied, taking the moment to set aside her clothes before taking the offered hand. "Charmed, really. Which neighbor are you?"

"In 530," Jean replied, pointing in that general direction. "I just moved in yesterday."

"Ah, one of our new victims residents, then," Emma replied, her smile sharpening slightly. "I do hope your sibling has warned you about the temperamental nature of the island already."

"Chuck?" Jean laughed slightly. "Yeah, he told me about the gremlins and zombies and stuff. He owns a bar."

Oh, gossip. Good for all.

"Chuck Bass?" she inquired. "Oh, you lucky girl."

Emma liked Chuck. He had money and taste, and was entertainingly bitchy.

"He was very nice after I figured out it wasn't a, you know, joke."

"He's also hot," she pointed out, using the same tone that one might use to observe that the sky was blue or water was wet. "But no, it's not a joke. This place can get downright strange."

"Stranger than zombies?"

"Two words, darling, 'Sex Pollen,'" Emma quipped. "Flowers that made everyone into raving perverts. I never knew it was possible for a dorm to run out of cold water, but we managed it."

"Really?"

"Really really," she answered, crossing her heart with her index finger. "By day three, I was ready to shake people."

Trying to get any restful sleep had been bloody impossible.

"That's horrible." On so, so many levels. "Does it happen a lot?"

"So far only the once, but I just started at the beginning of the summer," Emma replied. "Once, however, was more than enough. I was going out of my mind." Literally.

"I can imagine." Not that she'd say why. "Is there anything else I should worry about?"

"There's a crazy man in red spandex who seems to be in a position of authority, an insane midget teaches fashion, and there's no drinking age here, although that's more of a worry if you're on a budget," Emma said. "Although if you're Chuck's little sister, and he owns the bar, I can't imagine you'd pay for your own beverages."

"I don't drink, actually." Such a goody two-shoes. "But, I think I met the crazy guy on the bus here. He kept snickering at me."

"Don't tell me you're one of those people that's allergic to gluten products." Emma was aghast. "There's got to be alcohol you can drink without turning puffy, darling. Not everything is made from grains; rum, tequila, and wine should be safe."

"I mean--" Jean shook that off, deciding it really wasn't worth it. "Have you been here long?"

This one didn't have any bite to her, did she?

"In this room? Just the last few days - I used to be down on third, but apparently they decided that McCoy needed my company," she said. "But I came to the school about two months ago, with the last batch of miscreants and ne'er-do-wells."

At least she couldn't hear these wholesome thoughts?

"McCoy? She your roommate?"

"I would like to see you ask him that to his face," Emma laughed. "McCoy is most assuredly not female, he is my roommate."

Jean blushed slightly, but grinned anyway. "They have co-ed rooms? I don't think my parents looked into this place at all."
