icecoldfrost: (Waiting for My Moment)

After her spa trip the other day, Emma had come home to find a large envelope with her name on it, and Hank's clumsy printing on the outside.

Now she sat at her desk, considering the contents and accompanying note with an evil little grin on her face.

party is monday. send this back to me fast so it can go where its supposed to go. bee careful. -- H

"Hank, I love you," she breathed, turning over the invitation to Ben Nishimura's charity gala in her hands. The man had proved infinitely profitable once before, with what she had gleaned from him at Cumberland's birthday party, and this definately held promise. "For this, I might just kiss you."

Humming happily, she skipped over to her closet, pulling out a small box filled with stationary supplies and setting to work.

Practice the lettering, first. Then match the paper and inks properly. By the time of the party, Emma was going to have an absolutely perfect match, and no one would ever know it was fake.

[Open door and open post! That Emma got a package is totally FB, the any mentions that she's a total delinquent and is committing forgery is NFB.]

"Hey," Turtle grinned holding up her hands. "Never said you didn't have the right. I mean, a summer here usually turns everyone into an instant veteran. I won't even touch the point about Mr. Deadpool."

Probably because, with her, she actually had survived him. And his past.

Turtle snorted a little at that. "Maybe I've just known too many cute blondes," she said. "Or I'm just impossibly jaded and been through everything."

Which was not true. She was just gawking at Yakko just last night, even.

"Just do me a favor," she offered. "If you break any of them too bad, send them my way so I can win some points trying to put them back together with duct tape."

"Well, how about we settle on the fact that sometimes? The cute totally wears off?"

Because Turtle didn't have a general lack of faith in most blondes for nothing over here.

"And that would be very good, especially if you do it in the first few weeks."

"I'm not up to anything," Turtle said, blinking her eyes at Emma. "Nothing everybody doesn't already know about already, anyway. A new semester's starting. That means Student Council elections, and it's my senior year. If I get in, I'd be up for Student Council president. I've been dreaming about that for practically three years. The more help I can get to be elected, the better."

Turtle took a second to consult her obsessively memorize lexicon of who exactly was in the class of 2010, and, knowing Emma wasn't on it, decided it was safe to forge ahead without inspiring immediate competition. She nodded.

"There's actually quite a few 'normal' things here for the regular school year," she explained. "Student Council, a cheerleading squad, homecoming courts. It's still high school, after all. Just with a lot of crazy crap thrown in, too."

"I think I missed that," Turtle admitted ruefully, "but definitely something to keep a hold of. I'm not sure what really happened to yearbooks; they seemed to be around for a bit at first, but there wasn't a group or anything for it, I don't think."

Turtle tilted her head a little, trying to think of what to offer, from a perspective of having lived through a summer. "Well," she said, "just that, I guess. I mean, it's like regular high school, except no really big formal sports team, although the cheerleaders do compete, and you've got classes like 'Managing your Superhero Powers' scheduled right next to 'Business Math.' The only thing that's really different from the summer is that there's no cabin time and, instead, you get clubs, extra-curriculars, and more regular dances."
