It was a beautiful, clear night. The best possible kind of night to take in Manhatten, in Emma's personal opinion, and they had the best possible party to enjoy.
Ben Nishimura's charity benefit was a veritable Who's Who of interesting and powerful people, ranging from socialites to politicians and businessmen from across the globe. The cream of society had the run of the Met for the evening, and after a few rounds of the floors, Emma found herself in her favorite spot of the entire museum: the roof garden, with its sculptures and perfect view of the park.
She leaned on the ledge, looking out at the trees as she sipped her drink. Tonight was going fantastically, at least on her end. They hadn't had a single issue getting into the party, Nishimura had remembered her from Cumberland's gala (and she'd spent a good two hours with his hand on her waist as he introduced her to various people), and there was no sign of Leland. Plus, she had more than enough information to make this trip profitable, and she was definitely calling her broker in the morning.
Best yet, still no migraine. She was getting better at this.
< Jack, you ought to come up here, > she sent out, keeping her touch light so she wouldn't startle him. < The view is to die for. >
[For the other party-crasher. NFB due to off-island shenanigans. ETA: Getting NWS in the second thread, because they're a pair of delinquents with four months of UST.]

Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 07:01 pm (UTC)The mental pause was still noticeable, and it didn't take a genius to guess at the possible reasons. "It's okay," she murmured, sliding one stockinged foot along his leg in encouragement. "Don't worry, I won't break."
Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 07:14 pm (UTC)It was worth the wait.
Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 08:02 pm (UTC)Definitely worth the wait.
"Please," she sighed, shifting to kiss just below his ear while she squirmed under him. "Jack..."
Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 08:19 pm (UTC)Soon -- not embarrassingly soon, but sooner than it would have been if he hadn't been so pent up -- he felt white sparks shooting through him and, gasping, rested his head on her chest, kissing her absently. His grin when he looked up at her was idiotic.
"So."
He wasn't sure how to finish that thought.
Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 08:28 pm (UTC)Considering how much people paid for privacy here, she wasn't going to feel too guilty. This bed was huge, and clearly meant to be enjoyed.
"So," she echoed, lazily playing with his curls. "Now what?"
Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 10:00 pm (UTC)"We sleep," Jack said, kissing just left of her navel. "Tomorrow we go home."
More carefully: "We stay friends."
Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-25 11:39 pm (UTC)No, he hadn't.
"And if I thought you were like that and weren't going to still be my friend, I would beat you to death right here and now." Emma cracked one eye to regard him warily. "Don't make me reach for a pillow to beat you with, Jack, I'm comfortable and I don't want to move."

Re: Later That Night....
Date: 2009-08-26 12:56 am (UTC)"You know, most people would use that as an opening to claim I don't have a heart," she laughed, letting her eyes close again. If he continued using her as a pillow, she was just going to pet him until she fell asleep or he swatted at her hand, whichever came first. Emma was feeling silly, and she liked playing with his hair. "I'm not sure if I should thank you for the compliment, or huff because you're ruining my reputation."
