icecoldfrost: (coffee addict)

It was a lazy Sunday so far. Emma had swiped an extra piece of Bobby's cake for breakfast this morning, and now she was at the Perk catching up on her accounting homework, gleefully manipulating the numbers to make them do what she wanted.

Really, the staff should know better by now than to give her that double espresso shot.

?
Somewhere just outside the window, there was a rustle. A bump. And the sound of scuffling.

Emma Frost
Emma twisted in her chair to see what was going on outside. She didn't see anything, or sense anyone, but after her encounter with Adrienne during the family weekend, Emma had been paranoid about making sure she wasn't followed.

After a moment of looking outside and seeing nothing, she turned back to her work.

?
Something darted past the window, faster than a shadow, and even from inside you could hear whomever was on the street snickering.

Emma
Emma's powers flared outward without warning, scanning and dismissing everyone in the shop, and failing to sense anyone in the street. And in no one's mind was there an image of her bitch-sister.

So, logic dictated it was someone who knew how to play seek-and-find with a telepath. Someone with a knack for dropping off the radar, and thought it was nifty when she found him.

"Skywalker, I'm still going to be able to find you," she said, both aloud and telepathically. "And if you're teaching Karla how to do this...I'll kill you." Emma was already carefully coming the area, brain-by-brain, to see who it as, even as she put her books away and headed for the door.

"Ready or not, here I come."

...
Oh, they were ready! They watched, and waited, as the blonde girl set off down the street, only taking a moment to peer into the crystal that Jareth had given them, filled with images of children.

There had been a wish.

"It's her, it's her!" The flowed out after her, keeping to rooftops and dark corners, giggling and shushing each other the entire way.

Emma
Someone was definitely watching her, and Emma was starting to feel creeped out. Like when she'd lived on her own, before Hank, and occasionally some scavenger tried sizing her up as easy prey.

"Come out come out, wherever you are," she muttered, adjusting her bag and starting to walk a little faster. "You aren't funny, Ben."

The change rippled over her arms and back again, flesh to diamond to flesh as her body responded to her agitation. She couldn't sense anything telepathically. There was theoretically no one on the street, but her ears were telling her different. Not right, not right, not right.

By the pricking of her thumbs...
"'M not Ben!" one surly voice protested from above her.

"SHUT UP!"

Emma
Emma's head snapped up at the sound, and the goblins on the ground grabbed their chance. They hurled themselves at her legs, knocking her backwards as she yelled and kicked at the small green creatures that were suddenly surrounding her.

Unfortunately for them, she'd turned to diamond the moment their compatriot had spoken, which made it hard to get a grip on her arms. A few bounced harmlessly off walls -- like she didn't have super-strength at all! -- before attacking again, and they began pushing her farther and farther back towards an alley.

"Get off!" Emma swung her bookbag with all her might, since the impact from the books seemed to be doing more than her fists. "Leave me alone!"

Goblins
"You didn't say 'I wish,'" one goblin sang, which caused the others to break into high-pitched shrieks of laughter as they latched on to her. "'I wish I wish I wish!'"

Emma
Emma didn't get a chance to rephrase her request. A surge of goblins knocked her back towards a wall which she promptly fell fell through, followed by the gleeful, bouncing horde.

Anyone else who walked by that wall would find it utterly solid, and the only evidence Emma had been there at all was her bookbag, lying discarded by a trash can...
