Room 528 -- Wednesday Morning

It was lucky for Emma that ermines likes burrowing into things, such as blankets. Because it meant when she woke up person-shaped (and without clothes) on Wednesday morning, she wasn't freezing or in a hideously embarrassing situation. Well, no more embarrassing than being a rather cuddly ermine had been in the first place.

Blanket firmly wrapped around herself, Emma hopped out of bed and headed over to her dresser to pick out some clothes and find her shampoo. After a week of being small and furry, a hot shower and something to wear that wasn't a blue ribbon sounded fantastic.

[OOC: For the roomie, should she wish, and open to other visitors once Emma is happily clothed.]

Jack closed his eyes, leaned back against the wall. "The last time we talked," he pointed out, "The best you could say was that you 'needed to think about it.' How was I supposed to know you hadn't thought about it and decided the answer was no?"

"I said you already had me, but I needed to think about the monogamy," she answered. "I'm not going to make some promise like that without talking with the other people I've been...involved. With. You're the one so convinced I have a heart, so I was trying to do the right thing."

"And you couldn't bother to call me? Or stop by my room? I could have been gremlin bitten or sick with a migraine from all the excitement, had to rescue Bobby, again, or even been in another coma. It's not like you don't know where I live."

"Because I didn't think to look for you until the dance," Jack answered. "I wondered a bit, but it's not odd for us to go a few days without seeing each other. I have a life, Emma. I don't spend all my time mooning over you."

He brushed his hair back, arrogant. "Anyhow, you know where I live too. I wouldn't have ignored an ermine at my door."

Emma gave him her patented 'Jack, you are a Moron' Look. "Have you ever tried stairs as an ermine?"

Jack facepalmed. "I take it that it's not as easy as it sounds."

[icecoldfrost]

"I seem to remember someone calling me thimble-sized at one point," she replied crossly. "Everything was a lot bigger than me."

"You were adorable. Violent, but adorable," Jack informed her. ".... am I still yours?"

[icecoldfrost]

"You deserved every bite you got," Emma said loftily.

"...I don't know. Are you sure you want to be?" Since he'd been kissing Tony, of all people.

Sometimes, Jack would have been sardonic.

This time: "More than I want to be almost anything else."

Emma let out a huff of air, pushing her hands through her hair.

"If you want me to trust you with this, you need to trust me too," she said finally. "Give me some credit, Jack. I'm not deliberately cruel with the people I care about."

"I'm not much good at trusting," Jack admitted. "I don't expect to be able to just trust people. I should have known better."

"Yes, you should have." Her lips quirked into a small smile. "But are any of us any good at it?"

Really. Look at their friends.

"Nobody I know, I'm afraid," Jack said ruefully. "I guess we get to make it up as we go along."

She held out a hand to tug him closer. "That means we get to make our own rules, though, which could be fun."

Jack did not fight the tug, bumping her with his hip. "Or we could throw out the notion of rules all together."

"If we don't have rules, how will I know if I'm doing it right?" Emma asked, letting her free hand brush against his waist.

"I think we're doing all right if we're both happy," Jack said, reaching down to trace his fingertips over hers. "I missed your hands too."

[icecoldfrost]

"I didn't miss your hands, I found them just fine," she teased, turning her hand under his to run her thumb over some of the tiny bite marks. "More than I few times, if I remember correctly."

[bitten_notshy]

"I'm going to turn into something with horrible fangs, just out of spite," Jack informed her airily.

[icecoldfrost]

"Don't put yourself out on my account," Emma replied dryly. "I think I can manage just fine if you stay Jack-shaped."

After all, when it came to fangs, she wasn't the one with that particular kink.
