The nice part about being in the 'future' was that Emma could stay overnight, sleep in tomorrow, and still catch a portal back to Fandom in time for her class without getting sleep-deprived. Timezones were wonderful things.

"I don't think I can walk another inch," she announced, opening the door and walking into the room to fall dramatically on her bed. "I think you dragged me to every corner of London and then some, Jack."

"I don't" -- and now he was going to try to roll her over and pin her to the bed by her wrists -- "growl."

He was growling.

Her answering smile was bright and sharp, and very much meant as a challenge.

"Yes, you do."

He wasn't going to say anything more. His mouth was too busy at her neck trying to get interesting noises out of her, and his hands stayed fast where they were.

She gasped loudly before biting down on her lower lip, doing her best not to squirm (although she was not succeeding) or give him the satisfaction of making any noise.

Jack did gasp at that, but only briefly. He couldn't entirely prevent his own squirming, but it made a pleasant rhythm with hers.

"I" -- oh, he'd switch to talking her way, it left his mouth free -- <<I can be very quiet>>

That wasn't fair. That? With the free mouth he was using elsewhere to do other things that weren't talking and his hands that were still pinning her wrists? Not fair, and Emma whimpered quietly, shifting against him so she could hook a leg over his waist and pull the rest of his body tighter against her.

Emma very much liked it when Jack got aggressive, in case he hadn't noticed.

<<More?>>, Jack thought at her, lazily, clearly enjoying every second of this. He gave up on keeping her entirely pinned, moving one hand to slide it under her shirt.

Emma had opened her mouth to respond, possibly by growling at him herself, when there was a sudden pounding on the door. "Room service!"

Jack killed his flash of anger with laughter that started out forced and went genuinely giddy.

"Don't," he implored. "Stay where you are, and Ill get rid of them as quickly as I can.

he was already smoothing his shirt and crawling reluctantly off the bed.

She didn't really care that telepathy couldn't do that; Emma would find a way to do it anyway.

"We ordered it," Jack pointed out calmly, waving a hand at her dismissively. He wasn't trying to be infuriating; he just didn't see the point of getting angry.

Still, he signed for the food and carried the tray in to set on the table as quickly as he could manage.

Emma did not like logic when it interfered with what she wanted, thank you kindly. But she ran her fingers through her hair and got up, straightening her clothing as she headed to the table.

"I am starving," she admitted reluctantly. "And it smells fantastic."

"I thought you were hungry," Jack said, waggling his eyebrows just enough to suggest he might mean more than one kind of hunger.

He sat down. "Should we talk while we eat, or try to see how much syrup we can get on the sheets?"

"I am not sleeping in syrup-covered blankets," Emma warned, already reaching for the coffee. "I don't care how much of a sweet-tooth you have today."

"We could make them change the linens ..."

But Jack was already slicing a banana over his plate of waffles, resigned to eating (at least) at the table.

"It won't be too terrible," he said, glancing over to Emma. "Half an hour or so of conversation before we get back to other activities. Can you open the champagne, darling?"

"I can try," she said, setting down her coffee - ah, humanizing coffee - and reaching for the champagne. "I rather like the conversing, you know, I'm just miffed at the timing."

"I know," Jack assured her. "It's not how I would have planned things either. But we can call what we were up to a preview of coming attractions, and enjoy the food now."

Emma just snickered. "Breakfast for dinner, and a nap for dessert?" she teased, grabbing the bottle-opener and starting on the champagne. "My, we sound old."

Jack shrugged, half-serious.

"After the last few weeks, I think I'd be justified in saying I felt forty. And isn't going to bed early meant to be a virtue?"

"'Virtuous' is not a word that I think anyone has ever applied to either of us," Emma laughed. "Except, perhaps, in our dedication to academics."

The cork popped free, sending Emma staggering back a few steps as it sent forth a small spray. "Oops. Pass me a glass, darling."

"No, just a little damp," she assured him, pouring the overflowing bottle until it stopped fizzling. "I'll need to wash my face and change my top; champagne is tasty, but I don't want to reek of it all night while it dries."
