The sun had barely begun to set when the house on Apocalypse Avenue lit-up like a small supernova. Each of the zombie lawn gnomes each had their own little candle in a cup, and the walk up to the house was strewn with fairy lights between the trees.

In the backyard, you would find wine, mead, fresh fruit, sparklers, and pretty much anything else required for your midsummer solstice party. There was more food in the kitchen, of course, and rather than the traditional bonfire, the residents had rigged their own burning sun in the center of the backyard.

Merry meet and welcome on the longest day!

[Open! If you think you got an invitation, you did! Townies, students, alumni, teachers...all welcome. Up ridiculously early for maximum SP.]

Isabel gasped, once she got over that initial feeling of Whoa! caused by blinking her eyes closed in Vegas and opening them up somewhere entirely different.

"Damn, maybe we should skip the party and orb off to South America or some other place that doesn't feel like a damn sauna."

Wyatt made a face. "OK, Vegas is hot, but this is just gross," he said. "Hopefully it'll cool down now that the sun is going down."

"Obviously you've forgotten summers in Virginia. It might cool down, but it'll still stay sticky." Maybe there was something to be said for the dry heat of Vegas after all.

"We could always take a walk on the beach later to cool down."

"And go skinny dipping?" Wyatt had to suggest to no one's surprise.

No surprise at all there. Nope, none.

But the thought still made her smile.

"But haven't we learned that that's one of those things that sound great in theory but in practice isn't so great. Remember, four words. Sand. In. Uncomfortable. Places."

Wyatt sucked in his breath at the thought. "True enough," he said. "Though can't you...?" He waggled his fingers at her, universal sign for alien mojo.

Isabel has a faraway look of her own at the thought of those very pleasant memories. "That would work, I suppose. If not, you're orbing straight home to the shower."

"Deal," Wyatt agreed.

He couldn't help but grin. "Are there still monsters hanging out around the beach?" he said. "Might get awkward to have to fight in the buff." Somehow he'd managed to avoid that with demons all these years.

"As far as I know there's only the squid in the park. The beach should be safe. No naked monster fighting." But it was an amusing image all the same. "But if there are monsters I'm totally calling a clothing time out."

"I'd appreciate that," Wyatt had to agree. "Pants, at least. Shirtless I can fight."

Surprisingly, that wasn't a required course in Fandom.

"Can I sit on the sidelines with popcorn?" Isabel teased. "If there's shirtless fighting? And since I'm pretty sure the student population hasn't changed all that much, I bet I could round up an appreciative audience."

Sure, Isabel, feed his ego.

"I better not get my ass kicked and disappoint, then," he said. "Not in front of whatever kids they have going here now."

He wasn't that much older them, but still. Get off his lawn.

No worries. She'd have no problem deflating it if necessary. Especially after dealing with the fallout of Johnny's ego issues.

"Please, like that would happen." As if Isabel would sit by and let him get his ass kicked.
