A Hotel, London, Early Sunday Evening

The nice part about being in the 'future' was that Emma could stay overnight, sleep in tomorrow, and still catch a portal back to Fandom in time for her class without getting sleep-deprived. Timezones were wonderful things.

"I don't think I can walk another inch," she announced, opening the door and walking into the room to fall dramatically on her bed. "I think you dragged me to every corner of London and then some, Jack."

How long had it been since they'd had time together where nothing was going wrong, where they weren't arguing about something pointless or recovering from trauma? Far, far too bloody long, in Jack's opinion. Dimly, he supposed they should talk about their recent experiences, but it was hard to want to do that when Emma's skin was warm and her lips were soft and he was letting himself feel how much he'd missed her.

He pulled his lips away, amused by her reaction. "I surprised you." If he sounded triumphant, it was only because he rarely got to do that.

"Don't gloat, or I'll start spending more time in that brain of yours," she threatened, tapping a finger against his temple. "For shame, Jack. Taking advantage of an unsuspecting girl like this."

"This is the unsuspecting girl who invited me to her hotel room and let me lie on her bed next to her?" Jack asked, running a hand over her hair. "Because I think that girl suspected exactly what was going on."

"Since when have I ever 'let' you do anything?" she asked dryly, tilting her head to get a better look at him.

"You think I'd be here if you didn't want me here?"

Mmmm, answering a question with a question.

"You think I'd be here if you didn't want me here?" she parroted back at him with a smirk. If Jack wanted to play the Question Game, Emma would be happy to oblige him.

Jack returned the smirk, a bit lopsidedly. "Do you think I think either of us does much of anything we don't want to do?"

Now he was just being a brat.

"What do you think your sister would say if I asked her?" Emma retorted, nudging him with a foot.

He was being a brat, so Emma was going to be a brat back.

Jack stiffened. It was a sore point, and not one he expected Emma to know about, but coming to 2010 for good meant giving up regular contact with Rivka and he hadn't been able to trace any descendants.

"Oh, she'd probably call me horribly spoiled," he said lightly, trying to keep up the mood. "Which doesn't go against my point, you know."

Emma felt his muscles tense under his skin at the same time she mentioned Rivka. Dammit, how did she always manage to say the wrong thing?

"Hideously spoiled, and even proud of it," she drawled, reaching up a hand to tousle his curls. "Which is not my fault. It's no fun to just let you get away with things; I like making you put some effort into our adventures."

It was all right; the tension (which tasted like shame that he couldn't fix everything) would pass. He was determined not to pick a fight.

Even if he didn't think his life was nearly so easy as Emma seemed to think it was. Still, it was the version of him she needed right now, and there was enough truth there that he could play the part.

"So dragging you around two-thirds of London meant with your approval?" Jack checked, and tried to kiss her again. "That was my goal, you know."

"Which was your goal?" she managed between kisses. "Seeing how much dragging you could do, or getting my approval?"

"Getting you to approve of the city," Jack expounded.

Or ... something like that. Some of the words were getting lost in the kissing.

...there had been something about the city in there, right?

Whatever. The solution was clearly more kissing, and tangling her fingers in his hair to tug him closer. She had a hunch that they both needed this - and each other - right now, more than either of them was willing to admit with words.

At least, not yet. There would be talking, but at the moment, Emma's lips were rather busy.

Jack happily let himself be tugged, fingertips resting at her waist as he tangled his legs with hers and deepened the kiss.

He'd been craving this -- the closeness, the warmth, the feeling everything was all right for a moment.

But it was all right, at least for right now.

Emma hummed happily and reached for the hem of his shirt, tugging at it playfully. She wasn't in any hurry, since they had all night (and Emma planned to take advantage of that fact), but he might be a little closer without it.

Jack let her tug, but didn't help her along just yet. "You know we have to be" -- kiss -- "decent when the food gets here."

Emma nipped at his lower lip. <<We could be fully clothed, and they'd know what we'd been up to,>> she sent. <<It's hotel staff. They probably have a betting pool going on if we'll be up in time to check-out.>>

<<Or I can answer the door in a sheet, and make them think I'm wearing an evening gown. >>

"I think they have better things to worry about than what you and I are getting to," Jack said. He liked when she talked into his head, but he wasn't -- quite -- in a place to reciprocate.

He leaned in to nibble at her neck, and asked, "Would it work the other way? Could you be in a business suit and convince me you were naked?"

<<Easily,>> she promised, tilting her head to give him easy access. <<I know you well enough, I could probably be in the next room and convince you we were having sex right now.>>

"Would you?" Jack asked, clearly intrigued as he wriggled next to her. "There's a naughty idea."

He should not find it as arousing as he did, given how terrifying the implications were. He was .. not entirely in his right mind at the moment.

Mmmm...that was nice, and Emma purred happily. <<Why would I?>> she asked, distracted. <<I've got you right here, and this is so very nice.>>

<<Now, if we were stuck in a boring class...>> Telepathic make-outs actually sounded kinda fun.

"What would you do to me if we were stuck in a class?" Jack asked, a laugh in his voice as his hands snaked over her stomach.

<<Phantom kisses,>> she decided, running her fingers along the back of his neck. <<Until you got frustrated and growled at me.>>

<<Then maybe I'd tug you into my mind so I really could kiss you for hours, while about five minutes passed in the outside world. Barely enough time for anyone to realize we aren't paying attention.>>

"I wouldn't growl," Jack protested, but fadingly, as the mental images she was suggesting were pleasant. He rolled closer to her, pushing her shirt up a bit.
