icecoldfrost: (Ermine!Emma says wheeeeeeeeeee!)
[personal profile] icecoldfrost
It was lucky for Emma that ermines likes burrowing into things, such as blankets. Because it meant when she woke up person-shaped (and without clothes) on Wednesday morning, she wasn't freezing or in a hideously embarrassing situation. Well, no more embarrassing than being a rather cuddly ermine had been in the first place.

Blanket firmly wrapped around herself, Emma hopped out of bed and headed over to her dresser to pick out some clothes and find her shampoo. After a week of being small and furry, a hot shower and something to wear that wasn't a blue ribbon sounded fantastic.

[OOC: For the roomie, should she wish, and open to other visitors once Emma is happily clothed.]

The sound woke Beka and it took a moment afore she remembered that ermines did not make as much noise and then her head poked out from underneath her own blanket. "You're back!"

Not that she'd left...

You'd have been very ineffective about it, Pounce informed her from where he was curled up on Beka's feet.

"I like you talking!" Beka grinned and she looked very much relieved. "Tis good to see you back on two feet."

Pounce's miaow managed to sound rather amused.

"It'd have been easy if you'd been able to still speak to people," Beka agreed, extracting her feet from underneath her cat so she could get up. "You didn't like being a weasel then?"

"Pounce would not have let me squash you," Beka assured her.

I am glad someone here recognises my good sense, Pounce remarked, sounding almost regal.

"You looked very pretty with a blue ribbon," Beka said. Mayhap she was teasing, but she managed to keep her face straight as she said it.

"It seemed a shame to not dress you up somehow," Beka smiled at her. "I know you enjoy it."

"They put alcohol in it," Beka protested. "You could smell it from afar. I'd not have you poison yourself!"

"Hi, Beka," Karla said with a wave. "Would you like a donut? It's the recommended reward for people who've been ermine-sitting for almost a week."

"Is it?" Beka asked with some amusement. She was tying her hair in a tight braid. No spikes. "I'd love one, if you have any to spare."

"Well, assuming I can grab one away from Emma without losing any fingers..." Karla said with a laugh.

Because she was the one to talk, yes.

She reached into the bag and pulled out a chocolate glazed. "Is this one good?" she asked, bringing it over to Beka.

"It is fine," Beka nodded and quickly tied her braid off afore she reached for the donut. "Thank you. You saved me a trip to the baker."

"You're welcome," Karla said with a smile. "There might even be another one in there for you're still hungry. I wasn't sure how many females would be in the room today and figured it would be best to get a lot."

Because Karla never had a problem with too much food.

"Did you and Jonas have fun at the dance?"

Beka smiled and ducked her head as she nodded. "He's not a bad dancer when he forgets to worry," she said easily. There was a moment's silence afore she continued. "George has no problem with that, he worries too little."

"George dances just fine," Karla said, leaping to his defense immediately. And then almost facepalmed considering how little leaping had been necessary right there. Pinking a little she amended, "Right. Like you said he did."

This was going wonderfully.

"You think he should worry more?" she tried.

"It'd not hurt him to cut off some of his ego," Beka chuckled, shaking her head and she took a bite from the donut.

"I like it," Karla said, with a small smile that even charity could only describe as 'doofy.' "Not saying you're wrong, mind," she added, "it's just the males back home could give lessons in being brash and ballsy. And under that ego is kindness and understanding, so..." she shrugged. "I like it."

Mayhap if he thought less of himself, he'd not been getting as far in the Court of the Rogue. Beka nodded simply. "He's not a bad cove."

"Not in the least," Karla said firmly, toying a bit with the strand of beads around her wrist.

Karla knew 'bad coves.' George at his worst might be about equal to them at their best, but Karla wasn't going to put money on it.

"Jonas is a good male, too," she said. "Though I hope he didn't end up with a bellyache after the carnival. We decided to try a bit of everything that we'd never had before." She chuckled a bit. "It sounded like a good idea when we came up with it."

Beka smiled. "And I had him eat apple fritters too. It seemed like you both survived."
