Solstice Party at 33 Apocalypse Avene, Weds Evening.

The sun had barely begun to set when the house on Apocalypse Avenue lit-up like a small supernova. Each of the zombie lawn gnomes each had their own little candle in a cup, and the walk up to the house was strewn with fairy lights between the trees.

In the backyard, you would find wine, mead, fresh fruit, sparklers, and pretty much anything else required for your midsummer solstice party. There was more food in the kitchen, of course, and rather than the traditional bonfire, the residents had rigged their own burning sun in the center of the backyard.

Merry meet and welcome on the longest day!

As the sun was setting, Jack perched on the porch with a cup of sangria in one hand. The summer evening warmth was pleasant, and he was curious to see who would show up.

Isabel gasped, once she got over that initial feeling of Whoa! caused by blinking her eyes closed in Vegas and opening them up somewhere entirely different.

"Damn, maybe we should skip the party and orb off to South America or some other place that doesn't feel like a damn sauna."

Wyatt made a face. "OK, Vegas is hot, but this is just gross," he said. "Hopefully it'll cool down now that the sun is going down."

"There's a small sun in the backyard," Eric announced to no one in particular when he ambled up after the sun had finally set. He leaned against a porch railing like he owned the place and not like a vampire whose paper invitation wouldn't get him inside a house.

"We do! Now you can work on your tan," Emma promised from her perch on the porch railing where she was taking a smoke-break. "Hello, Northman. Make yourself at home, there's True Blood in the fridge."

They knew far too many vampires not to keep it stocked, after all.

The Backyard

The yard has a number of chairs and small tables strewn about, with a few nooks for more intimate conversation BUT NOTHING MORE INTIMATE BECAUSE WE CAN ALL SEE YOU. Batches of flowers were everywhere, and there were ivy garlands and pan-horns if you wanted to dress in the mood. The sun-effigy is blazing merrily away, the drinks are flowing, and your hosts are most likely out here somewhere!

Piled high, indeed! There were:
-grilled skewers of lemon-pepper grilled chicken, halved cherry tomatoes, and portobello mushrooms
-spinach salad (with red onion, button mushrooms, and sliced boiled egg) with, on the side (for those who want/need to avoid any of it):
  -a spicy balsamic raspberry vinaigrette
  -shredded cheddar and asiago cheese
  -crumbled bacon
-warm naan bread, especially useful for eating:
-Thai green curry (and never let it be said that Ronan wouldn't mix cuisines)
-orange and pineapple beef

And, for dessert:
-strawberry shortcake, served on honey scones with lemon whipped cream
-Forever Nuts coconut milk ice cream
-your choice of: orange, raspberry, cayenne, or mint truffles, dipped in dark chocolate

... Someone had been busy.

Jonothon was not a mingler. Really, everyone ought to know this by now. And so, while he'd already gone out of his way to be social by coming to the party in the first place, he was also finding himself a corner of the backyard to seat himself in with a few chicken skewers to pick at while he watched the burning sun and made a note to tell his hosts later that this was one hell of an impressive setup.

The Backyard: The Fire-Sun

A werewolf and a diamond mutant with super-strength put it together, and the wizard lit it safely with magic. Now you can roast marshmallows on it, admire the flames, or just hang out.

Inside the House

For hanging out in the kitchen or living room -- there's of course extra pillows and blankets piled against one wall, for anyone too tipsy to make it all the way home.

If you go upstairs, the bedrooms are locked. Well, Emma's is; so help her, that's magically shielded for HER convenience, not so you can hide your dirty little affairs or secrets.

If you think you were invited, you are, but the trio isn't serving anyone booze under 21, lest the Troopers shut the party down. You can have the non-alcoholic mead, or get your asses to Caritas beforehand - after all, that's where THEY had to do their underage boozing.

And beware potential glitter-storms and shirtlessness. Emma's taking bets on how long Ronan manages to keep his shirt on. $10 to join the pool.

(Hint: She's betting he doesn't even put one on)
